Liability insurance for general practitioners and specialists
Medical professionals are under a great deal of pressure, as their possible errors can have a direct impact on the health or appearance of their patients.

It is important to bear in mind that medical professionals not only have to deal with claims brought for obvious errors in the practice of medicine, but also with claims based on subjective criteria, even if they are later dismissed by higher courts.
These claims are of such a nature that they may jeopardise the physician’s own assets.

This insurance is specifically designed for the different professional groups working in the different specialties of medicine:

  • Doctors: working alone or in joint practices, whether public, private or mixed.
  • Health professionals:
    • Nurses
    • Speech therapists
    • Psychologists
    • Opticians
    • Dental technicians
    • Pharmacists
    • Laboratory technicians
    • Podiatrists
    • Nutritionists
    • Physiotherapists
    • Podiatrists
    • Osteopaths
    • Social workers
    • Veterinary

Surgeons Aesthetic, beauty and tattoo centres

The guideline has been developed for treatment centres, administration, practices, therapeutic and cosmetic applications.

Specialised aesthetic and beauty centres (hairdressing salons, beauty centres and beauty salons) offer their clients more and more services and, at the same time, more sophisticated services based on the use of technological products and equipment that can cause serious harm to the clients. Both this aspect and the fact that these are establishments where people are cared for and treated pose a significant risk.

Ultimately, these are facilities that are highly exposed to claims for damages that may jeopardise the assets of the facility and its managers. These areas of risk make it advisable for the owners and managers of these facilities to protect their assets and those of the company itself against claims which, due to their nature, can be of great significance.

Who is the insurance aimed at?

  • Group 1:
Hairdressing salons, manicure/pedicure, make-up, manual massage without the use of machines, tanning salons, tattoo and piercing salons without surgical procedures, hospitalisation or laser treatments.
  • Group 2:
Laser treatments (hair removal and photoepilation), micropigmentation, eyebrow tattooing, microblading, plasmapen, dermapen, hiaulorupen, dermabrasion, electrocosmetic lifting, removal of varicose and spider veins, vessel removal, and removal of blemishes and/or tattoos and piercings (including lingual and genital). Also included are cavitation, vacuum therapy, radiofrequency, pressotherapy, electro-stimulation, lymphatic drainage and electro-aesthetic lifting.
  • Group 3:
The therapies in groups 1 and 2 plus: Botox, hyaluronic acid and/or similar treatments, provided they are performed by doctors and/or, in the case of hyaluronic acid, by dermo-aesthetic nurses.
Centres performing aesthetic surgical treatments or requiring hospitalisation are covered by the products of health facilities and hospitalisation centres.

Liability for naturopathic treatments

What is liability insurance for naturopathic treatments and alternative medicine?

The effectiveness of naturopathic and alternative medicine is demonstrated by the growing number of people who rely on it.
Of the many and varied techniques grouped under this heading, some have a direct impact on health, while others are essentially aimed at the well-being or comfort of the user. In either case, their application to the health of the user poses a risk to the facility and its managers, as complaints from customers may arise.

On the other hand, naturopathic and alternative medicine centres usually have employees and staff, and are logically open to the public. Two factors, in addition to those mentioned above, make the facility very vulnerable to claims that may threaten the assets of the facility and its managers.

These areas of risk make it advisable for the owners and managers of these facilities to protect their assets and those of the facility itself against claims.
